The woman travelled to Saudi Arabia with her 19-year-old son on 19 February. She started showing signs of infection 12 days ago.

Six people of her family and community have tested positive. Several others are being tested.

A woman from Delhi's Dilshad Garden area with travel history to Saudi Arabia has set off a chain of infections, resulting in five connected positive cases in Delhi excluding her — out of Delhi total count of 30. It has set off a chain of watch and surveillance procedures. She is Delhi's patient number 10.

The woman travelled to Saudi Arabia with her 19-year-old son on 19 February. She started showing signs of infection 12 days ago. Six people of her family and community have tested positive. Several others are being tested.

“They weren’t very cooperative, so we had to seek the help of the local police to get information," an official is quoted saying in this report.

He also adds that the authorities used the CCTV cameras installed near their home to identify the people who would need surveillance.

The two returned to Delhi on 10 March and the woman's brother received them at the airport. On 12 March, she developed fever and cough. She saw a local doctor for the fever and cough.

On 15 March, she was taken to the emergency department at Delhi's Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital in a cab. The doctors at GTB referred her to RML Hospital in Delhi.

On 17 March, the woman tested positive for Covid-19 and three days later her brother and mother tested positive. On 21 March, her two daughters, who are 24 and 26, also tested positive. And a day later the local doctor who did her first check-up tested positive.

There are six positive cases connected to this woman. However, the local doctor’s wife and her daughter are being considered under high risk of Covid-19. Under watch are 74 people in her locality, and nearly 100 contacts of her brother, who is said to have taken part in mass gatherings before testing positive. The brother and the mother live in Jahangirpuri. Their contacts are being traced.

Then, the local doctor who first saw her, saw nearly 100 patients between 12 March and 17 March at his clinic. It is being said that the area where the local doctor saw patients could become "a veritable hub of disaster".

The woman's son has not shown symptoms yet. He is at home quarantine. On the other hand, the doctor became ‘Case 30’ and his wife and daughter have shown symptoms of Covid 19. They are at GTB Hospital and their test results are awaited.

The doctor's clinic has been shut down.
