Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CRML) has recently entered into three contract agreements with Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) worth a total of Rs 4,058.20 crore.
According to a statement from CMRL, the three packages involve the construction of 12 full Underground Metro stations and four Underground Metro station works, excluding the diaphragm wall, from Kilpauk Metro to Taramani.
The Phase II project will involve the construction of 128 stations and three rail corridors. Corridor 3 will run from Madhavaram to SIPCOT, covering a distance of 45.8 km. Corridor 4 will span from Lighthouse to Poonamallee Bypass, covering a distance of 26.1 km. Lastly, Corridor 5 will connect Madhavaram to Sholinganallur, spanning a distance of 47 km.
The letter of Acceptance (LOA) for the three tenders was issued on 20 July 2023. These packages are being funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The Contract Agreement was signed by T Archunan, Director (Projects) on behalf of CMRL and Kamalakara Reddy- Chief Project Manager/Coordination/Chennai on behalf of RVNL, in the presence of MA Siddique, Managing Director, CMRL.
