Aiming at controlling the movement and maintenance of the rolling stock, NCRTC has awarded the work for the construction of Modipuram Depot and Workshop for Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut Corridor to KSM Bashir Mohammad and Sons.

Estimated to be constructed at a cost of  Rs 265.71 crore, Modipuram Depot’s site lies at the 34.94 hectare land parcel at the northern-end of NCR’s first semi high-speed rail line.

It was designed to accommodate RRTS trainsets of up to 9-coach configuration and 36 MRTS trains of 3 coach configurations, for local Meerut Metro services on a total 21 km route between Meerut South and Modipuram Depot.

Modipuram Depot is the last station of the 82 km long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor. Once the construction is complete and the entire corridor is operational, the maintenance of both RRTS and Meerut Metro trains will be taken care of, from this depot.

This depot building will include workshop/inspection bays shed, stabling sheds, internal cleaning shed, workshop offices, Depot Control Centre, Operations Control Centre, overhead and underground water tanks etc.

Train washing plant will also be constructed here for maintenance of RRTS and Mass Rapid Transport System (MRTS) trainsets.

Depot Control Centre of the Modipuram Depot will control the movement and will plan the arrival and departure of the trainsets, to and fro in the depot, along with trainsets stabling.

The maintenance of the rolling stock will also come under the purview of this depot.
