Gautam Adani And Japanese Envoy Hiroshi Suzuki Hold Talks On Renewable Energy Collaboration

Industrialist Gautam Adani met with Japanese Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki on Wednesday to discuss the Adani Group's renewable energy ambitions. The meeting took place during the Ambassador's visit to Mundra Port and the site of the world's largest Hybrid Renewable Energy Park in Khavda.

Adani also noted the Ambassador’s appreciation for India’s rich cultural heritage and emphasised the importance of fostering strong partnerships based on mutual respect and shared goals.

Spread across 726 sq km within the challenging terrain of the Rann desert, the Khavda RE park is set to generate 30 GW of power, supplying electricity to 16.1 million homes and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 58 million tonnes annually.

Located in the Kutch district of Gujarat, Khavda is an ideal location for wind and solar energy projects. With abundant solar irradiation reaching approximately 2,060 kWh/m², the area is well-suited for solar power generation. Moreover, Khavda boasts one of India's most favourable wind resources, with speeds averaging around 8 metres per second.

Currently, India's largest renewable energy company has successfully brought online a combined capacity of 1,000 MW from solar power projects in Khavda.

Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki's visit to Mundra Port and the Khavda project site highlights Japan's interest in and support of India's renewable energy sector.
