Tenders have been invited by Hyderabad Airport Metro Rail (HAML) to select consultants for the preparation of Preliminary Project Reports (PPRs) and Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for the newly approved Phase-III metro rail expansion corridors by the Telangana government.
NVS Reddy, the managing director of HAML, has stated that a total of 12 corridors, covering a distance of 278 km (including eight extension corridors and four corridors along the ORR - Outer Ring Road), have been divided into four packages. Each successful consultancy firm will be awarded no more than two packages.
The deadline for tender submission is 28 August, and the selection of consultancy agencies will be made early next month. The selected consultants will be required to submit PPRs within two months, conduct traffic surveys, forecast travel demand, estimate ridership, assess socio-environmental impacts, analyse alternatives, and suggest suitable modes of public transport in the PPRs.
According to Reddy, the RFP (request for proposal) documents have been posted on the website. The technical proposals will be opened on 28 August, and the shortlisted firms will be announced on 30 August, reports The Hindu.
Following this, the consultants will prepare DPRs within three months, providing details on metro rail civil structures, station and depot planning, multi-modal integration, electric power supply, signalling and train communication, train operation plans, coaches, cost estimates, fare structure, and financial analysis.
The Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, has instructed reputable consultancy firms to conduct PPR/DPRs for the transportation needs of Hyderabad for the next 40-50 years.
To ensure a coordinated approach, other departments such as GHMC, HMDA, R&B, and related departments will be involved under the guidance of the Minister for Municipal Administration & Urban Development, K.T. Rama Rao.
