With the aim to strengthen the system, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has sought a fortnightly safety action plan and its review on a regular basis.

Vaishnaw undertook a detailed safety review meeting on 25 November concerning train operations to strengthen the system.

Of late, there were cases of a few safety-related incidents reported from some zones causing serious concerns over the safety aspects.

Attended by Railway Board Members, officials from zones, divisions and RDSO, the review meeting took up all issues threadbare and discussed various safety aspects.

Seeking stringent measures on the safety front, he has asked concerned officials to draw out a concrete plan to deal with safety issues.

He has instructed a fortnightly safety action plan and its review on regular basis.

In the recent past, the punctuality of train operations has worsened due to the continuation of maintenance blocks at various sections, which has decreased the train speed and caused delayed running schedules.
