Madhya Pradesh: Foundation Laid For Rs 2,300 Crore Highway Projects, To Improve Connectivity Of Indore With Nagpur And Hyderabad

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chauhan inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of six National Highway projects of 119 km worth Rs 2,300 crore in Indore.

They have laid the foundation for significant highway projects that will improve the road connectivity of Indore with Nagpur, Hyderabad and the famous Hindu pilgrimage centre of Omkareshwar.

The two main projects to which the foundation stone was laid are four laning of NH 47 from Indore to Harda at the cost of Rs 1,011 crore and four laning of NH 347 BG between Indore and Burhanpur at the cost of Rs 1,163 crore.

While NH 47 connects Indore with Nagpur, NH 347 BG connects Indore with Hyderabad via Omkareshwar.


The union minister also laid the foundation stone for a six-lane flyover to be constructed at Rau circle in Indore at Rs 44 crore.

On occasion, Gadkari Inaugurated a Road Wayside Amenity on NH 52, which includes restaurants, restrooms, fuel stations etc.

Speaking on occasion, Gadkari said there would be a reduction in travel time up to Tejaji Nagar (Indore) - Burhanpur and Indore – Harda which will save fuel. He said the routes would be smooth for the passengers going to Omkareshwar and Khandwa.

During this program, an MoU was signed between the State Government and NHAI for constructing ropeways at 14 selected places in Madhya Pradesh.
