The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is set to embark on a transformative journey with the redevelopment of the Ramabai Nagar slum pocket situated on the Eastern Express Highway in Ghatkopar.

In a bid to revitalise the area and uplift the living conditions of its residents, MMRDA will soon appoint architectural and project management consultants (PMC) for the project.

Ramabai Nagar spans 33.15 hectares of land and is home to approximately 16,575 slum tenements. As part of the redevelopment project, these slum dwellers will be provided with rehabilitation, while MMRDA aims to acquire 5,000 tenements to accommodate project-affected individuals displaced by various ongoing works in Mumbai, reports Economic Times.

This initiative underscores MMRDA's commitment to urban renewal and inclusive development, aimed at improving the quality of life for residents in Mumbai's marginalised communities. MMRDA is all set to progress with this transformative project to reshape Ramabai Nagar and create a brighter future for its inhabitants.
