The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor has added another feather in its cap by completing the construction of a bridge over the Auranga River in Valsad district in Gujarat.

This is the fifth river bridge completed till date on the corridor.

The 320-metre long Auranga river bridge consists of eight full span girders of 40 metres each. The height of the piers is 20 m to 26 m with circular piers of 5 m and 5.5 m diameter.

The bridge is in between Vapi and Bilimora HSR station. The construction of bridge on the Par, Purna, Mindhola and Ambika River has already been completed.

According to NHSRCL (National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited), there are 24 river bridges on MAHSR corridor (Gujarat and Maharashtra) out of which 20 are in Gujarat and four are in Maharashtra.

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad route is the country's only approved high-speed rail project. The Japanese government is assisting with the project's execution.

According to the operational plan, high-speed trains on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor will travel at a speed of 320 kilometres per hour over a distance of 508 km and stop at 12 stations.

There will be 35 trains per day/one direction, running every 20 minutes during peak hours and every 30 minutes during non-peak hours.

This distance will be covered in one hour and 58 minutes with a limited stop service (in Surat and Vadodara) and two hours and 57 minutes with an all-stop service. The MAHSR corridor's operational control centre will be in Sabarmati.

On the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor, noise barriers are installed alongside the viaduct to reduce noise from the train while not obstructing passengers' views.
