The Noida authority has opted to construct a 35km road alongside the Yamuna River, above the embankment road, with an aim to boost connectivity between the twin industrial cities of Noida and Greater Noida.

The elevated road will not only alleviate congestion on the existing Noida-Greater Noida Expressway but also seamlessly connect the upcoming greenfield airport at Jewar with Noida.

Disclosing the project specifics on Wednesday, the authority officials discussed the project with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department.

Previously, the authority considered building an elevated structure above the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway but opted for the current plan of constructing the 35km elevated road along the Yamuna instead.

"This elevated road will start from Kalindi Kunj Barrage and end near Noida's Sector 150. Later, it will be extended towards Noida airport in Jewar and seamlessly connected with Greater Noida's Pari Chowk traffic intersection. Additionally, it will be linked to Delhi via the 5.5-km elevated road for smooth traffic flow," added Lokesh M.

The UP State Bridge Corporation Ltd (UPSBCL) recently issued a tender to hire a contractor to develop the 6-lane elevated corridor from Mayur Vihar in Delhi to the Mahamaya flyover on the Noida expressway.

The authority had initially thought of roping in the central government RITES as a consultant to prepare the detailed project report and build the project. But, later on, it decided to enlist NHAI to construct this important project.

Additionally, the authority is presently in the process of obtaining necessary approvals from the irrigation department, which possesses the Yamuna embankment land where this road is slated to be constructed.

The elevated road will also connect with the Yamuna Expressway near Greater Noida's Pari Chowk intersection, offering a smooth journey for commuters traveling between Delhi and Agra via the Yamuna Expressway.
