Expansion of the Hyderabad Metro Rail network will cover more areas in the capital region.
The Chief Minister of Telangana, K Chandrashekar Rao, announced the expansion of the Hyderabad Metro Rail network to cover more areas in the capital region.
During the launch of Haritha Haram Phase-9 at Tumuluru village in Ranga Reddy, the Chief Minister confirmed that the extension of the Hyderabad Metro Rail will happen in two phases.
The first phase will cover Hitech City to Shamshabad airport. The second phase will cover Shamshabad airport to Kandukur in the Maheshwaram district.
Tenders were called for connecting the missing link with the airport at a cost of Rs 6,000 crore.
Airport Metro — Rapid Connectivity To International Airport
The airport corridor will connect Mindspace junction near Raidurg metro station and the city's international airport located at Shamshabad after traversing along the Outer Ring Road of the city.
The airport metro will connect the city to the airport and other major areas such as the IT hub of Hitech city, Madhapur, Gachibowli, Nanakramguda, Narsingi, Kokapet etc.
The foundation stone for the project was laid by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on 9 December last year.
The Airport Metro will reduce travel time from the city to the airport by up to 50 per cent. The metro is expected to take just 20 minutes to connect the airport to the main city.
