Afghanistan slams Pak at UNGA, calls it ‘India-phobic’

Afghan Vice President Sarwar Danish said before a gathering of world leaders what India has been stating all along: that Pakistan is deeply India-phobic and its incubation of terror groups stems from this phobia. Danish told the United Nations General Assembly that Pakistan harbours Taliban terrorists and supports terror.

Afghanistan also said “attacks on American Universities were plotted on Pakistan soil” and accused that country of having a dual policy on terrorism by distinguishing between good and bad terrorists. The Afghan leader said there was a trust deficit between Pakistan and his country.

Another significant development at the UN was a tripartite meeting between India, US and Afghanistan on Afghanistan’s development goals and steps being taken by that country to counter terror. Pakistan’s sponsorship of terror acts in Afghanistan figured in the meeting between India’s envoy to Afghanistan Manpreet Vohra, Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister Hekmat Karzai and US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Olson.

A statement issued after the meeting said that the discussions provided a forum for the governments of India and USA to coordinate and align their assistance to Afghanistan. This trilateral, taking place after three years, amounts to the US acknowledging and promoting yet again India’s stakes in Afghanistan, something that Pakistan is vehemently opposed to. And thus it also amounts to another powerful snub to Pakistan.
