After Championing Anti-CAA Protests, Farhan Akhtar Exposed As Having Barely Any Knowledge Of The Act

Filmmaker Farhan Akhtar who in recent days has attempted to champion protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), was left exposed as having barely any knowledge of the act.

While protesting against CAA in Mumbai’s August Kranti Maidan, Akhtar was asked as to why he and others are opposing the said act.

In response, Akhtar began going round in circles by peddling rhetoric like, “to raise your voice against somethings is a democratic right”, “I am subscribed to the view that there is a certain amount of discrimination in what is being planned and what is happening. As a citizen of this country it is important that I raise my voice”

When asked what his specific problem is against the bill, Akhtar deflected the question by saying that he does not want to discuss details right now.

After the journalist enlightened Akhtar by saying that the act does not pertain to any Indian citizen, the filmmaker began ad hominem attack by asking him to go home and not cover the event.

He then added that if one goes through the details “one feels that there may be some form of (discrimination) and why would so many people be upset if the act was fine”.
