Carrying forward the soft Hindutva approach which has been part of his party’s recent election campaigns, senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, a candidate from Bhopal Lok Sabha seat, has begun a temple run, reports New Indian Express.
Digvijaya launched his campaign offering prayers at the famous Shiva Mandir in the city’s Laal Ghati. He later also visited other famed shrines like the Maata Harsiddhi Mandir, Durga Mandir, Parshuram Mandir and Hanuman Mandir in the city. Digvijaya also sponsored a Srimadbhagavad Katha reading program.
The famed temple run of the Congress began during the Gujarat Assembly elections in November 2017, with party president Rahul Gandhi visiting the famous Somnath Jyotirlinga Mandir among others to start off his campaign.
After being made the Congress General Secretary, Priyanka Vadra too has embarked on a Temple run during her campaigns.
Meanwhile, BJP is yet to finalise its candidate against the Congress leader from the constituency. Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar’s name is floating around strongly. Bhopal LS seat is BJP’s bastion since 1989.
