The much touted merger of the different factions of the All India Anna Dravida Munnethra Kazhagam (AIADMK) finally happened today (21 August), after a meeting between Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam at the party head office in Chennai.
Panneerselvam was announced as the convener of the party while Palaniswami would be the co-convener. The united factions would retain the two-leaves symbol.
Palaniswami announced that a 11-member coordination committee would be formed to run the party,
It was announced that O Panneerselvam would be the Finance Minister as well as the Deputy Chief Minister. He would be sworn in today at 4.30 pm.
