Airtel Digital TV’s hardware quality is soon all set to get a revamp and become at par with other leading DTH operators like Tata Sky as it has begun providing superior Inverto Low-noise block downconverter (LNB) for new connections, reports DreamDTH.
A LNB is mounted on satellite dish and is used for satellite TV reception. Its function is to take a weak signal and amplify it. It also works as a block down-converter to convert high-satellite frequencies to lower levels.
As per the report, Airtel has imported these LNB which are also used by Tata Sky+ HD (DVR) set-top boxes. These LNB are said to be a better product which provide stronger signals.
These LNBs which are priced at around Rs 775 will reportedly be provided for its newly launch flagship set top box - XStream.
Some of the features of these LNBs are Low Phase Noise, Low Noise Figure, Low power consumption, High Cross Polarization Isolation, and High-Frequency stability. It also helps reduce interference from 4G/LTE transmissions.
