Ajit Doval, India’s National Security Advisor (NSA), met US president-elect Donald Trump’s NSA-designate Gen (rtd) Michael Flynn on Sunday in Washington DC. The two are believed to have discussed issues of common interest, including the future of India-US strategic ties.
According to Press Trust of India, Flynn invited Doval to US when the two had a telephonic conversation last week. Doval arrived in US on Sunday. Indian embassy sources have informed that Flynn expressed his "high respect" for India's growth in modern times and for its leadership.
The first meeting between Doval and Flynn lasted for an hour. According to embassy sources quoted by PTI, the meeting was an opportunity for them to discuss global issues and ways to further cement India-US “co-operation and engagement in the months and years to come”.
