Alstom Transport India is the lowest bidder to supply 156 coaches, signaling and train control and telecommunication system for Indore Metro and Phase 1 of Bhopal Metro.

The Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) had invited tenders to acquire these train cars at an estimated cost of Rs 2,145 crore in November 2021.

The bidders have been given 1,526 days to complete the deliveries and the technical bids for the same were opened in April 2022.

14 (42 coaches) of them will serve the 14.99 km long Purple Line (Karond Circle-AIIMS) that is under construction currently. The rest of the 13 (39 coaches) will run of the upcoming 12.88 km long Red Line (Bhadbhada Square-Bhawarsala).

Meanwhile, the Gandhi Nagar Depot of Indore Metro will stable 25 trains (75 coaches). They will serve on the Yellow Line that will connect Palasia-Railway Station-Rajwara-Airport-Bhawarsala.

Alstom’s bid, despite being the lowest of the lot, is still 51.42 per cent higher than MPPRCL’s estimate of Rs 2,145 crore. It is likely that Alstom would be called for negotiations but the package could be retendered thereafter, The Metro Rail Guy reports.
