North Korea's Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un has asked the people of the country to 'eat less' till 2025 as the country faces severe food crisis.
“The people's food situation is now getting tense as the agricultural sector failed to fulfill its grain production plan,” the 37-year-old North Korean leader said in a statement, reports DNA India.
Natural disasters, weak resilience, low mechanisation levels and insufficient farming materials are reportedly the major reasons behind this ongoing food crisis in North Korea.
The ruling Worker’s Party’s Central Military Commission conducted a meeting in South Hamgyomg to ponder over the acute food crisis in North Korea.
Nearly 40 per cent of the entire North Korean population is said to be undernourished as per the United Nations (UN) World Food Program.
According to a UN report, the country would be short of food by around 860,000 tonnes this year, about two months’ of consumption, reports Radio Free Asia.
