Amid tensions with India at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh, Chinese Defence Minister Wei Fenghi is said to have sought a meeting with his Indian counterpart Rajnath Singh on Thursday (3 September) on the sidelines of a key Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meet in Mosow, reports Economic Times.
Both, Singh and Wei are in Moscow to attend a meeting of SCO defence ministers today (4 September).
According to the report, people familiar with the development said that the Chinese side conveyed to the Indian mission its keenness to have a meeting between the two defence ministers. However, there is no official confirmation about the development.
It should be noted that Indian Army had thwarted Chinese PLA's attempt to occupy strategic heights in Indian territory in the southern bank of Pangong Lake on the intervening night of 29 and 30 August.
Further, the Indian Army occupied a number of strategic heights on the southern bank of the Pangog Tso and has strengthened its presence in the Finger 2 and Finger 3 areas in the region to counter any Chinese actions.
