In the aftermath of union government’s far reaching decisions on Article 370 and bifurcation of the current state of Jammu and Kashmir, more troops have been deployed into the state.
Close to 8,000 paramilitary troops have been airlifted and moved in from Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Assam and other parts of the country to the Kashmir valley. Troops induction still going on, reports ANI
Former chief minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah said that the move was “unilateral, unconstitutional and illegal,” adding that his party will challenge it. He termed the move as an “aggression” against the people of state as had been warned by an all parties meeting in Srinagar yesterday.
He said that the government of India’s decisions mark a “total betrayal” of the trust reposed by the people of Jammu and Kashmir during accession in 1947. Abdullah said that the government had resorted to stealth and deceit to bring about the “disastrous decisions”.
“A long and tough battle lies ahead, and we are ready for that,” he said.
