The National Institute of Technology in Srinagar is set to re-open and start operations from 15 October, after a two-and-a-half month-long shutdown, reports The Hindu.

The development was made public by the Higher Education Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, R Subrahmanyam. He said, "The situation is getting back to normal. We consulted with the State government and the Chief Secretary gave us the go-ahead."

Following the order, the institute's hostels were also shut down as a result of which students had to move back to their homes. Reaching out to the students of the institution, Subrahmanyam said, "All students can return by 15 October, including those who have been allotted admission this year."
