The Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has set the ball rolling for the addition of two new team franchises to the fabled Indian Premier League (IPL) from the next season onwards, reports Economic Times.
BCCI is planning to have closed bidding for the two new teams on coming 17 October and the “Invitation to tender” (ITT) for the same will be available for purchase till 5 October. Any party interested in participating in the bidding will also have to purchase the ITT document. However, it should be noted that purchasing the ITT would not entitle any party to bid.
The likely venues where the new teams could be based include Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Pune. It should be noted that the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad and the Ekana stadium in Lucknow have bigger capacities than the stadium in Pune.
