India-Baloch Alliance Moves Ahead: Bugti To File A Formal Request For Asylum In India

BySwarajya Staff

Brahamdagh Bugti, the leader of Baloch Republican Party, is set to file a request for political asylum in India later today. Currently living in exile in Switzerland, Bugti has expressed interest to moving to India if the Indian government provides political asylum.

Talking to the Times Now, Bugti informed that his party will approach India, Afghanistan and Bangladesh to file a case against China at the International Court of Justice against its exploitation activities in occupied Baluchistan. Also, the Baloch Republican Party has decided to file a case against Pakistan’s army chief for committing grave human right violations in Baluchistan.

As discussed in this piece on Swarajya, the government has not taken a final decision on its policy, but reports suggest that Baloch freedom activists will be granted political asylum by New Delhi within weeks if they formally apply for the same.

At various occasions, Bugti has stated that the biggest difficulty for him and other Baloch leaders living in exile is the lack of travel documents. When granted asylum, Baloch leaders would get an Indian passport/travel documents which would enable them to travel to other countries and inform them about Pakistan’s repressive occupation of Baluchistan.
