Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has set up five more Covid Care Centres with a total capacity of 1,600 beds to cater to the rising coronavirus cases, an official said on Monday (29 June).
“Due to an increase in Covid cases in and around Bengaluru, the number of such centres is being increased,” a civic body official said.
The five CCCs are Government Ayurvedic Medical University and Hospital (200 beds), GKVK agriculture students hostel and university campus (600 beds), GKVK horticulture students hostel and university campus (400 beds), City Centre International Hotel Majestic (200 beds), and Chancery Pavilion (200 beds).
Meanwhile, the civic body is revising the protocol to assess patients’ medical condition to admit them in hospitals.
Under the earlier practice, patients used to be directly taken to a hospital and accommodated in different wards after checking their health conditions, which will not be followed now.
More CCCs will be set up as asymptomatic cases are higher, the official added.
