The Karnataka state government has directed the IT companies situated on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) in Bengaluru to extend work-from-home options for most of the employees till December 2022 owing to the initiation of the metro work on the location.

The firms have also been asked to space out the working hours for the employees working from office. Moreover, the staff has been encouraged to take the BMTC buses or similar services provided by their respective companies so that they traverse through the bus lanes and it reduces congestion of traffic on the road.

Apparently, the metro work on the 19 km stretch, from Silk Board to K R Puram, will take around one-and-a-half-year to two years’ time to be completed, the Hindu reports.

About 700 companies along with 10-12 tech parks are situated in the ORR. The government has although maintained that they have only rolled out an advisory and that they are not mandatory to be followed in nature
