A Bhopal court ordered the registration of FIRs against senior Congress leaders Jyotiraditya Scindia, Kamal Nath and Digvijay Singh and an RTI activist on the charge of fabricating evidence in connection to the Vyapam scam case. The court has also called for the submission of the investigation report by 13 November.
A private complaint was filed by a local advocated alleging that the senior Congress leaders and RTI activist Prashant Pandey were furnishing false evidence and misguiding the court hearing the Vyapam scam case. This scam concerns irregularities in the conduct of examinations in Madhya Pradesh for entry into professional courses and state services.
The Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board which is also called the Vyavasayik Pareeksha Mandal conducts these examinations leading to the scam being commonly referred to as the Vyapam scam.
The direction for the filing of FIR against Congress leaders incidentally comes on the heels of Digvijay Singh deposing in a local court in relation to his private complaint, against present and former Chief Ministers Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Uma Bharti, seeking a criminal prosecution against them for their role in the scam.
