In a major jobs push which would also give a fillip to accessibility to quality and affordable healthcare, Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh (UP) Government has approved over 19,000 new posts for doctors to ensure the availability of adequate specialists in the health services sector in the State, reports Economic Times.
In total, the State Government has approved 19,011 posts of which 10,580 are for MBBS doctors, while the rest 8,431 posts are for specialists. Half of these specialists will be recruited directly, while the rest of the posts will be filled up via promotions.
The direct recruitment of specialist doctors by the State Government gains significance, given in its absence, a large number of posts used to remain vacant.
In L-4 category, 2,845 posts have been announced for chief medical superintendents, chief medical officers, additional chief medical officers and joint directors. Also, in the L-5 category, 105 posts have been announced for additional directors, principal superintendents and chief consultants.
Also, in L-6 and L-7 categories, 19 and three posts have been approved for directors and director-generals respectively.
