In a fight that ensued during CPI candidate Kanhaiya Kumar’s roadshow in Bengal, his supporters lashed out at a few youths who carried black flags and raised ‘Kanhaiya wapas jao’ slogan, reports Times Of India (TOI).
The incident took place on Sunday (22 April) in Korai village under Garhpura block of Begusarai district.
When the protesters refused to tone down their sloganeering, Kanhaiya’s supporters hit them with bamboo sticks. The protesters were also chased away.
The situation was brought under control when police arrived at the scene.
Not The First Time
It should be noted that was not the first time in this election cycle that black flags have been on display at Kanhaiya Kumar’s rallies.
He was shown black flags in a Lohia Nagar rally. Also seeking an explanation for his “Bharat ke tukde tukde’’ sloganeering, residents of Bihar’s Begusarai stopped Kanhaiya Kumar’s cavalcade on 17 April..
The said sloganeering was carried out in the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) while Kanhaiya Kumar was the president of the student union. Kanhiya Kumar has been accused of supporting the event.
In the 2019 general elections, Kumar is contesting from the Begusarai Lok Sabha seat in Bengal on a Communist Party of India (CPI) ticket.
