The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called a meeting today (Monday) of its parliamentary board, the body tasked with making important party decisions, to take a call on its nominee for the presidential elections, PTI has reported.
According to the news agency, all senior leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah, will attend the meeting. However, it is not clear if the party will announce its candidate today or after it consults its allies in a separate National Democratic Alliance meeting later this week.
The three-member BJP committee, which has Union ministers Rajnath Singh, M Venkaiah Naidu and Arun Jaitley as its members, has already held some consultations with coalition partners and Congress president Sonia Gandhi. The members of the parliamentary board will be briefed about these discussions today.
