Despite national outrage, brazen political violence has continued in West Bengal during the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

As per a New Indian Express report, bombs have been hurled at polling booths in Basirhat, Mathurapur and Islampur and a BJP camp has been set ablaze in Basirhat.

It was earlier reported that voters of poll booth number 189 in West Bengal’s Basirhat have launched a protest after Trinamool workers reportedly barred them from voting. As per the BJP candidate from the constituency Sayantan Basu, around 100 voters were stopped from casting their votes.

Basu has assured that the affected voters would be escorted to cast their votes. Following this incident, additional forces have been sent to the polling booth.
