In a surprising revelation, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM), of which IAS officer turned politician Shah Faesal is the president, has said that its party chief was travelling abroad to initiate a case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against India for abolishing Article 370, reports The New Indian Express.

Faesal was due to take a flight to Turkey and from there was planning to travel to the Hague, Netherlands where the ICJ is headquartered. However, he was unable to proceed with his plan after being take into custody at the Delhi airport. He is now being held at the Sheri Kashmir International Convention Centre at Srinagar.

“Only women members of the family have been allowed permission to meet Faesal,” said an official from the JKPM.

Shah had resigned from the civil services in January 2019, asserting that he had taken the decision because of "unabated killings" in the Kashmir Valley. He had subsequently launched his political career by forming his own party.
