Web streaming service Eros Now has stirred up a huge row on social media after it was pulled up by netizens for obscene messages denigrating the revered Hindu festival of Navratri, as part of its advertisement campaign.
Here are a few such posters reportedly made by Eros Now which were discovered and shared by prominent social media users, in a bid to slam the video platform for its actions.
The aforementioned posters in questions with sexual innuendo come accompanies with the message #HappyNavratri and a watermark of Eros Now.
In one case Eros Now also tweeted, "Be naughty, sweet to mithai bhi hai" with #Navratri, the tweet was deleted after outrage by social media users. The obscene advertisements also feature prominent Bollywood actors like Salman Khan and Ranveer Singh.
Activist Ramesh Solanki also announced that he will be taking legal action against Eros Now for hurting the sentiment of Hindus.
It should be noted that Eros Now has not denied posting the obscene posters on its social media platforms, nor has it claimed that they were photoshopped.
A few months ago another video platform Shemaroo was slammed on social media for hosting a video of comedian Surleen Kaur wherein she cracked obscene 'jokes' on ISKCON. Shemaroo had then disassociated with the comedian and issued an unconditional apology.
