CAPF Officers Accuse IPS Personnel Of Discrimination, Seek Home Minister Amit Shah’s Intervention

Alleging discrimination at the hands of Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in the process of granting service benefits, a number of officers of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking his intervention in the matter, reports The New Indian Express.

According to the report, the officers of the five CAPFs have also launched a social media campaign saying that their headquarters are creating hurdles in the process of granting them organised service benefits and sanction of more posts in the supervisory ranks by reducing those manned by the IPS.

The officers have reportedly sent a number of official communications to Shah where they have sought his intervention to take “desirable action” so that recruitment rules (RRs) are changed and a fresh cadre review is done in accordance with what is valid for organised central service.

If amended, the new RRs will make it possible for these officers to have more position in supervisory ranks, at present held mostly by IPS officers.

"A number of officers, who are unhappy by the obstructive manner of their supervisory IPS officers, have written to the home minister asking him to ensure that their financial and social upgrade is taken care of as this is directly linked to their morale,” a senior Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) cadre officer was quoted in the report as saying.

"The officers have requested the minister to ensure the due service benefits to them announced recently, as boldly as a decision where he announced the abrogation of the Article 370, that gave special benefits to Jammu and Kashmir," the officer added.
