The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is considering putting Chidambaram under the the lie-detector test after he has repeatedly resorted to giving vague answers during INX Media Scam interrogation, India Today has reported.
As a result of Chidambaram’s non-cooperation, an unhappy CBI is likely to knock on Supreme Court’s door to get permission for a lie-detector test. Chidambaram has reportedly resorted to giving replies like “I don’t know”, “I don’t remember” when quizzed over the financial transactions pertaining to the INX Media Scam.
The CBI has also expressed its intention to quiz Chidambaram while making him sit in front of Indrani Mukherjea who has turned approver in the case. Chidambaram is currently placed in CBI custody till 30 August.
He has been accused of illegally granting FIPB clearances to Peter and Indrani Mukherjea led INX Media while he was the finance minister during the UPA era. He was arrested by the CBI on 21 August after the Delhi High Court refused to grant him a protection from arrest.
