CBSE Class XII Boards: Students Left Confused Over Different Hindi, English Versions Of Same Maths Question

BySwarajya Staff

Students appearing for the CBSE Class XII Mathematics examination were left confused after one of the questions has different versions in English and Hindi, Indian Express has reported.

Question 26 in Set 2 asked students to find the area ‘about’ x-axis in the English version, but ‘around’ x-axis in the Hindi version. The discrepancy was not present in other sets, in which students were asked to find the area ‘around’ x-axis in both Hindi and English versions.

The aforesaid question belongs to the topic integration in class 12 syllabus and was worth six marks.

“The set-1 was the most difficult among all the sets. The students who are expecting good score was disappointed with set-1 as there were lots of difficult questions,” IE quoted Anup Tiwari, academic coordinator, Vidyagyan School as saying.

Recently CBSE also introduced new optional subjects for board students including Yoga and artificial intelligence. For class X students, the board has allowed an ‘extra’ subject apart from the five compulsory ones. This ‘skill subject’ will work as a replacement if a student fails in any one of the compulsory subjects. The final results will be computed based on the marks obtained in the best five subjects.
