A high-level committee headed by Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah on Friday (27 March) cleared additional central assistance of Rs 5,751.27 crore to eight States from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF), reports Hindu Businessline.
The beneficiary States include Kerala, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Odisha, Nagaland, Karnataka and Bihar. The assistance has been given to the States as a relief for the damage and losses sustained by them during floods, landslides, droughts and cyclone Bulbul.
It should be noted that in the ongoing fiscal, Government of India has released Rs 10,937.62 crore to 29 States as Centre's contribution to the State Disaster Response Funds (SDRFs) along with an additional assistance of Rs 14,108.58 crore provided to eight States out of the NDRF.
