Cheer For Haryana: Electricity Bills To Be Reduced From 1 October As Promised By CM Khattar 

Haryana’s public has found a reason to cheer as Haryana’s power distribution company Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has cut electricity tariffs, following Haryana’s Chief Minister’s announcement. These measures which will come into effect from 1 October, reported Times of India.

Earlier this month Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had announced in the state assembly that there will be varying slabs of rebates for consumers as per the household consumption.

Consumers will benefit with varying rebates they will receive on their electricity bill. As per the revised rates, those consumers who are using 50 units per month will have to pay Rs 2 per unit as opposed to Rs 2.70 per unit they are paying now.

Consumers who save their power and restrict their bill to 200 units will be charged at the rate of Rs 2.50 per unit as compared to Rs 4.50 they are paying now. Residents falling in the category of 200-250 units will be charged at the rate of Rs 5.25 per unit while those who use 250-500 units per month will be billed at Rs 6.30 per unit.

“The rate changes will be effective from October this year and they will be applicable on the bills generated thereafter,” a senior distribution company official told ToI.

The scheme also discourages excessive electricity consumption by only providing these slashed tariff benefits to those households where electricity consumption is below 500 units per month. Above 500 units, consumers will have to pay the existing rate which is Rs 4.50 per unit for the first 200 units.
