Tamil Nadu CM Edappadi K Palaniswami
In a bid to boost recoveries and strengthen the fight against COVID-19, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister (CM) EK Palaniswami has announced the setting up of State's first plasma bank, reports Hindu Businessline.
On a trial basis, the plasma therapy was carried out on 20 patients in Chennai of which 18 persons were cured and discharged from the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital (RGGH), said Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.
Meanwhile, the State has also begun plasma therapy on patients at Madurai Government Hospital, where one patient subjected to the therapy has successfully recovered.
It should be noted that Tamil Nadu has emerged as one of the worst affected state by the pandemic with over 1.3 lakh total cases and more than 1,800 fatalities.
