Chinese President Xi Jinping.
In a major development in the global fight against poverty, President Xi Jinping has claimed that China has scored a "complete victory" in this direction and eradicated absolute poverty in the world's most populous nation, reports Times of India.
President Jinping declared that China has lifted 770 million people out of poverty over the last four decades and called the development a 'miracle' that will go down in history. He said that all the poor people in rural areas of China have been lifted out of poverty.
Sharing that with this China has achieved the United Nations' goal of poverty eradication 10 years ahead of the 2030 deadline, President Jinping also boasted, "No country has been able to lift hundreds of millions of people out of poverty in such a short time."
President Jinping also emphasised that since he assumed power in the nation, China has invested accumulative fiscal funds of nearly 1.6 trillion yuan into poverty alleviation.
