Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore is all set to host a free civil services coaching centre for students from poor and middle-class backgrounds, with the state government announcing the proposal for the centre on Thursday (15 November), as reported by India Today.
The academy aims at providing the students with the resources for practice so that the students can clear and secure good ranks in the examinations that are conducted every year by institutions like Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) or the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC).
The Minister of Municipal Administration, S P Velumani announced the venture after a ceremony after he distributed laptops to students of 10 Corporation Schools in Coimbatore. The Minister said that the students not just from Coimbatore but also from other districts of the state will benefit from the academy.
He further added, "Coaching centres to help those appearing for the interview would also be set up, as many have failed for lack of skills in the interviews."
