The Yogi Adityanath government is preparing to mark Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti in special celebrations in Uttar Pradesh. Valmiki Jayanti falls on 20 October this year. It will be observed in temples and pilgrimage centres associated with Ram and Ramayana, across the state, with the reciting of the Ramcharit Manas in sessions of different durations. The reciting sessions will be in sets of eight, twelve and twenty four hours each.
Preparations are being carried out towards the inclusion of Shri Ram and Hanuman mandir for the reciting of the Ramcharit Manas as part of the celebration. Samitis or committees will be carved to conduct the festivities under the directions of the state culture department. Information of the temples, their GPS location and contact details, and details of the performing artists surrounding the celebrations at the temples have been taken into account.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will mark the Valmiki Jayanti in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, this report says. He will be dedicating the Kushinagar International airport to the people in a special "lokaarpan ceremony". Dignitaries from Sri Lanka will reportedly mark the occasion.
PM Modi will reportedly address the public in a rally, which will include his dialogue with the people of the several communities from the region who worship Maharishi Valmiki and Lord Buddha.
