Police Complaint Against Bahujan Samaj Party Man For Calling Ujjain Mahakal Temple As ‘Hub Of Terrorists’

Dreaded Gangster Vikas Dubey was arrested from the famous Mahakal temple in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain district on Thursday (9 July). He was later killed during an encounter after ‘attempted escape’ when he was being brought to Kanpur amid security on Friday morning, as per the police.

Soon after he was arrested from the temple, a man named Saddam Husen from Uttar Pradesh said in a Facebook post that the Mahakal temple is “atankwadiyon ka adda’ (a hub of terrorists).

He posted (as translated from Hindi), “Dreaded terrorist Vikas Dubey had taken shelter in Ujjain’s Mahakal temple. Mahakal temple is a hub of terrorists. It should be sealed and investigated for assessing the number of terrorists who had taken shelter in the temple till date.”

A clipping from Amar Ujala shared by Husen on his profile mentions that he is a city councillor and a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader. It is also learnt that he is a former student of Aligarh Muslim University, where he as quite active in student politics.

Husen’s post drew angry responses on the social media after it was posted by a Swarajya journalist on Twitter:

After facing massive backlash, Husen first deleted the post and later on deactivated his Facebook account.

On 10 July, a resident of Aligarh gave a complaint against the post at Harduaganj police station.

The complaint said that Ujjain Mahakal is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and is highly revered among Hindus, and the post had hurt the sentiments of crores of Hindus like him.

He demanded strict action against Husen for posting such divisive and communal content on his social media channel.

The complainant told Swarajya that he belonged to a Scheduled Caste and such a hateful comment from member of a party that claims to stand for the rights of Dalits like him, was unacceptable to him. He said that the cops have assured him that an FIR is likely soon.
