Congress-Led Rajasthan Government Orders Removal Of Deendayal Upadhyaya’s Photos From Official Documents

Rajasthan’s Congress led government has issued an order to remove photographs of Deendayal Upadhyaya from all official documents, Financial Express has reported.

State government in its order asked all state departments, corporations and boards to remove photos of Upadhyaya from their official documents.

According to the report, the circular, issued by Printing and Stationery department of the state, was addressed to all additional chief secretaries, principal secretaries, divisional commissioners, district collectors and departmental heads.

The order said that the circular, issued by the erstwhile BJP government in December 2017, making the use of Upadhyaya’s photo compulsory now stands withdrawn.

“Following an order issued by the council of ministers, it has been decided that the photo of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya will be removed from all official documents in effect from December 29, 2018,” the order stated.

In its first cabinet meeting last week, the newly-elected Congress government in the state had decided to remove the picture of Upadhyaya from the letter pads and replace it with the national emblem.

The Congress came back to the power in the state after winning 99 out of 200 assembly seats in the state. Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party extended their support to Congress to form the government. Ashok Gehlot, who is in his third term in office, was chosen as the chief minister of the state.
