Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flagship Rs 100 lakh crore Gati Shakti Master Plan that targets cutting down logistical costs and enhance connectivity in the country will be unveiled in September.
The program is set to provide multi-modal connectivity to over 1200 industrial clusters, including two defence corridors across the country.
The planned clusters include the likes of mega textile parks, fishing clusters and harbours, food processing parks, electronic and IT parks amongst others.
The logistics division of the Union Commerce Ministry will be leading the project whereas a group consisting of an empowered group of secretaries led by the Union Cabinet Secretary will oversee the execution of the entire project.
As of now, the supply chain and logistics cost in India form 14 per cent of the country’s GDP, Times of India reports. The Gati Shakti Master Plan aims to reduce the same and possibly bring it down to the global average of 8 per cent by ensuring sufficient optimisation of the necessary infrastructure.
