With a spike of 6,535 new cases in the last 24 hours, India's total case count of coronavirus jumped to 145,380, the Union Health Ministry data revealed on Tuesday (26 May).
According to the Health Ministry, of the total, 80,722 are active cases while at least 60,491 people have been cured of the disease.
At least 146 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total fatality count to 4,167.
Maharashtra, which has emerged as the worst Coronavirus-hit state in the country, has so far recorded 52,667 cases, including 1,695 fatalities and 15,786 recoveries. Tamil Nadu followed with 17,082 cases and Gujarat with 14,460 cases. The Covid-19 tally in Delhi has crossed the 14,000-mark with as many as 14,053 cases recorded so far in the national capital.
States with most casualties after Maharashtra are Gujarat (888), Madhya Pradesh (300), West Bengal (278), and Delhi (276)
States with more than 6,000 cases are Rajasthan (7,300), Madhya Pradesh (6,859) and Uttar Pradesh (6,532).
Among other states/UTs where corona cases have surged past 2,000-mark are West Bengal (3,816), Andhra Pradesh (3,110), Bihar (2,730), Karnataka (2,130) and Punjab (2,060).
