Bommai announced that as per the Supreme Court directive the damages to public property would be recovered from the rioters. He added that the state will take immediate action to this tune. The state is already in the process of tabulating the losses as well as identifying the rioters.

Bommai also said that over 145 people have been arrested by the cops and the arrests will continue. The state has requested for six additional CRPF companies to ensure peace.

An irate Muslim mob went on a rampage in Bengaluru yesterday night (11 August) after taking offence to a Facebook comment by the nephew of a local Congress MLA.

The rioters indulged in rioting and arson, attempted to set on fire the residence of Congress MLA Akhand Srinivasa Murthy and a nearby DJ Halli police station. The mob also vandalised houses, torched police vehicles and pelted stones at the cops.
