United Kingdom (UK)'s Prime Minister (PM) Boris Johnson, who had earlier placed himself under self-isolation after contracting the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been taken into intensive care after his condition began to worsen, reports Economic Times.
The development was made public by a spokesperson for 10 Downing Street, UK PM’s office, on Monday (6 April). PM Johnson has empowered his Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab to take charge and deputise for him wherever necessary.
As per Downing Street, PM Johnson's health deteriorated over the course of the afternoon, following which, on the advice of his medical team, he was moved to the intensive care unit of London's St Thomas' Hospital.
"The PM is receiving excellent care, and thanks all NHS (National Health Service) staff for their hard work and dedication,” the spokesperson said.
