Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj was praised with pleasantries from the President of US Donald Trump during a high-level event at the United Nations on Monday, 24 September. The incident took place at the UN where an event to deliberate on counter-narcotics was hosted by the US President.
Times of India reported that while leaving the podium of the event, US Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, warmly hugged Sushma Swaraj and introduced the minister to the President.
Sushma Swaraj informed the President that the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi gives his regards. To this, Trump responded by saying, “I love India, give my regards to my friend PM Modi,” sources told PTI.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj was attending the Global Call to Action summit on the drug problems in the world. This was chaired by President Trump as a part of the high-level week at the United Nations General Assembly began as a part of the 73rd Session.
