BySwarajya Staff

A Delhi court on Wednesday (24 April 2019) sent Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik to judicial custody till 24 May 2019, reports The Hindu BusinessLine.

Additional Sessions Judge Rakesh Syal also sought a reply from the defence counsel on a plea of Tihar jail authorities seeking to produce Malik through video conference due to security concerns.

After he was arrested in a case related to funding of separatists and terror groups in Jammu and Kashmir, Malik was brought to the national capital when a court in Kashmir granted his transit remand to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Ever since he has been kept at Delhi’s Tihar jail.

Malik is also the alleged accused in kidnapping and murder for being allegedly involved in abducting Rubaiya Sayeed, daughter of the then Union Home Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in 1989, and killing of four Indian Air Force personnel in 1990.

The organisation led by him, JKLF was banned by the centre under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in March 2019.
